WOOSTER, Ohio – A two-goal surge late in the opening half was the difference between No. 17 DePauw University and The College of Wooster, as the nationally-ranked Tigers escaped from John P. Papp Stadium with a 3-1 victory in North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey action Sunday afternoon.

Wooster (8-8, 5-6 NCAC) evened the scoreboard at one with just under 10 minutes to play in the first half. During its third penalty corner attempt of the game, Anjela Galimberti made a short pass out to Rachel Wetzel, who swung the ball around to the top of the circle for Kayla O'Connor, who in turn sent it inside to Taylor Thorp, then Thorp sent a drive to the right where Galimberti deflected it in. While it was a truly a team score, Galimberti got the official credit for her fourth goal this season and Thorp with her third assist.

DePauw (13-2, 9-2 NCAC) bounced right back, though, with two scores during the last five minutes before the halftime break. Both came on corner opportunities, with Grace Goodbarn scoring one and assisting on the next, which came with just :08 on the clock.

Using a strong defensive effort, the Fighting Scots hung close to the Tigers throughout the second half. Goalie Carrie Mount made 10 of her 13 saves the second 35 minutes, including consecutive point-blank shots early on and using her stick for a stop later.

Wooster will close the regular season with three road games, starting this Wednesday at Denison University (9-5, 8-3 NCAC).
