The College of Wooster kept defending North Coast Athletic Conference champion Kenyon College scoreless through 60 minutes of action, then the host Ladies ran off three goals during the last 10 minutes to prevail 3-0 in the Fighting Scots' NCAC field hockey opener, played Wednesday at Mavec Field in Gambier, Ohio.

Senior goalkeeper Danielle Slichenmyer kept Wooster (1-3, 0-1 NCAC) close throughout, as she matched her career high in saves with 15, eight coming during the first half. Three of her stops came over the last three minutes of the stanza, giving the Scots a boost of momentum into the break.

Early in the second, it was sophomore back Emma Roderick, who preserved the shutout as she produced two defensive saves during Kenyon (3-1, 2-0 NCAC) penalty corners.

The Ladies finally broke through with 9:45 remaining on a rebound goal and added another less than two minutes later on a penalty corner attempt. Their third score came via a penalty stroke with 3:16 left.

Slichenmyer also tallied 15 saves in Wooster's previous game, while Lauren Abbott was credited with both of the team's shot attempts on Wednesday.

The Scots will make their 2015 home debut Sunday when they welcome Centre College (0-2) for a game, starting at noon.
