Wooster Drops Road Contest in Indiana

The College of Wooster field hockey team's tough slate continued with a 5-0 road loss at DePauw University on Saturday afternoon in Greencastle, Ind.

The Tigers' (3-2, 2-0 NCAC) Corina Bourantas scored the contest's first goal just over 12 minutes in. Grace Goodbarn would put the hosts up on Wooster (1-6, 0-2 NCAC) just over four minutes later.

DePauw's Reilly Bruce struck twice in the second half, the first just 1:16 into the stanza. Goodbarn, who assisted on Bruce's first goal, would round out the scoring.

Wooster was led offensively by Maeven Barry who had three of the Fighting Scots' five shot attempts. The Scots' biggest offensive push came after the Tigers' third goal. Wooster rattled off three shots over a seven-minute clip.

Danielle Slichenmyer finished with five saves in goal. Sarah Guendert had three saves for the Tigers.

For the contest, Wooster was outshot 10-5. DePauw also had a 12-2 edge in penalty corners.

Wooster continues its Indiana swing with a noon tilt at Earlham College (2-2, 1-1 NCAC) on Sunday, Sept. 20.
