WOOSTER, Ohio – Leah Prescott scored twice and Danielle Slichenmyer posted her first career shutout, as The College of Wooster field hockey team defeated Earlham College by a 2-0 count in North Coast Athletic Conference play at John P. Papp Stadium late Friday afternoon.

Wooster (3-11, 2-7 NCAC) got a measure of revenge, having been upset by Earlham (3-9, 2-7 NCAC) earlier this season. That 3-2 overtime setback marked the end of the Fighting Scots' remarkable 43-game winning streak in the teams' all-time series.

This time, Wooster took control early and never wavered. The Scots executed during their very first penalty corner of the game, as the ball was passed over to Rachel Wetzel on the left wing and the junior midfielder hit a hard backhand in front of the cage, where Prescott deflected it for the goal less than three minutes into the action.

During the 13th minute, Wooster was on the attack again. A right-to-left cross was played into the circle, with the ball making its way to Lauren Abbott, who settled it a few feet to her left, then Prescott finished the scoring opportunity for her seventh goal this season.

The Scots maintained that two-score advantage going into halftime, thanks to fending off three corners by the Quakers during the final minute before the break. Wooster's corner defense primarily consisting of Anjela Galimberti, Isabel Perman, Emma Roderick, Slichenmyer, and Wetzel prevented Earlham from scoring on another seven penalty corners, and the Quakers were 0-for-12 overall.

Slichenmyer, a first-year starter as a senior, made four saves during her first shutout.

The Scots will be right back in action Saturday afternoon, as they play host to DePauw University (8-3, 7-1 NCAC) at 3 p.m.
