Leah Prescott scored less than one minute into Saturday's second overtime, lifting The College of Wooster to a thrilling 2-1 win over archrival Wittenberg University in North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey action at Edwards-Maurer Field in Springfield, Ohio.

Wooster (4-13, 3-9 NCAC) found itself in a familiar situation, playing overtime for the third game in a row and the fifth time in its last 10 contests, and that experience may have helped the Fighting Scots pull out the victory.

Rachel Wetzel began the winning play, passing the ball 30 yards down field to Rose Taylor, who dribbled into the circle and sent the ball towards the cage. It deflected off the goalie right to Prescott, who touched it into the open goal for her team-leading eighth score of the season.

Wittenberg (5-10, 5-6 NCAC) got off to a very fast start, scoring just 30 seconds after the opening whistle, then the Scots' defense shut down the Tigers the rest of the way.

A key defensive save by Anjela Galimberti later in the first half kept Wooster within 1-0.

Maeven Barry tied the game about midway through the second half when the freshman netted an unassisted goal. It marked her third tally of the year.

Thanks to another strong performance from 'keeper Danielle Slichenmyer, the Scots extended the game to an extra session. Slichenmyer produced 13 saves during regulation and one in overtime, and she has now posted a .870 save percentage over the last four outings.

Wooster had the better scoring chances during the first overtime, with three of its shots being on goal, and the Scots made good on their first opportunity of the second overtime.

Wooster will be right back in action Sunday at Transylvania University (1-10).
