WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster field hockey team capped its strong finish to the 2015 season by celebrating "Senior Day" with a 2-0 victory against Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium.

It was Wooster's (6-14, 4-10 NCAC) third win over the final four games, and the lone loss during that setback came in overtime to the conference's third-place team.

All four of the Fighting Scots' seniors – Emily Dean-McKinney, Anjela Galimberti, Isabel Perman, and Danielle Slichenmyer – played key roles in their final game. Galimberti helped give Wooster a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half, when she drove the ball inside and it was deflected in by Lauren Abbott during a penalty corner. For Galimberti, a back, it marked her first assist this season.

Wooster, which finished with an identical 8-1 edge in both shots and corners during the first half, continued to pressure Oberlin (1-17, 0-13 NCAC). A strong drive from the left wing by Erika Womack early in the second half was stopped by a Yeowomen defender, and a little later, Leah Prescott pushed an open look inches wide.

The Scots' constant penetration into the circle, paired with an Oberlin green card, paid off on their next opportunity. The ball made its way right in front of the cage, where both Prescott and Rose Taylor were poking at it, with Taylor eventually getting a clean stick on it for her sixth goal.

Wooster nearly made it 3-0 on a series of occasions, including a Rachel Wetzel penalty stroke that glanced off the post.

Defensively, the Scots only yielded two shots all game. Slichenmyer made a point-blank save to keep the game scoreless in the 10th minute and another in the 59th minute to preserve her second shutout. Helping Slichenmyer keep a clean stat sheet was the backfield of Galimberti, Perman, and Emma Roderick, and midfielders Dean-McKinney and Wetzel among others.

While Wooster loses the four seniors, it is expected to return the top-six scorers from this year, plus the two leading point producers from the 2014 season who are currently studying abroad, which should bode well for 2016.
