Wooster Sweeps Concordia, Takes Game Two 4-1

Clare Leithauser MEQUON, Wis. – The College of Wooster field hockey team made it a weekend sweep by taking the final game of a set with Concordia University Wisconsin 4-1 on Sunday morning at Tomasini Stadium.

Wooster, now 3-1, has scored in the opening 2:12 of all three wins this season. Junior Jill Murray delivered the Fighting Scots' quickest strike of the year, with her backhander from the right side finding the cage just 28 ticks into the game. The Scots' co-leading goal scorer was at it again in the second period with a blast from just inside the circle going in the books as the game-winner.

Senior Katie Agatucci snuck a goal past a swarm of Falcon (2-5) defenders just before halftime, and that goal moved the forward into a tie with Murray for the team lead in goals at four. Agatucci was credited with an assist in the third period, as senior Caitlyn O'Connor cleaned up a loose ball near the far post for her 31st career goal.

Junior Lucy Segal earned her first collegiate win with a save in a half of action. Classmate Zoë Semersky turned aside both shots on target during her 30 minutes in goal.

Wooster overwhelmed Concordia 31-6 on the shot tally, and the Scots inserted 13 penalty corners to the Falcons' six.

Paige Armijo scored Concordia's goal and Emily Binley stopped 10 Wooster shots.

Next, Wooster's back home to take on DePauw University (1-3) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 25. The contest is part of Black & Gold Weekend.
