O'Connor Scores at Kenyon

Caitlyn O'Connor College of Wooster Field Hockey GAMBIER, Ohio – It was just like old times, as seniors Caitlyn O'Connor and Syd Schuster teamed up for yet another scoring play during The College of Wooster field hockey team's 2-1 loss at Kenyon College on Wednesday after at the Field at Benson Bowl.

With less than a minute to go in the first period, Schuster fed a pass through the defense to O'Connor at the back post, and the senior directed the ball in for her third goal of the year. It marked the second time the duo has connected on a scoring play this year and the 10th time over their careers.

Wooster's (4-2) lead was short lived, as Bella Kern deflected in a shot by Sarah Metzmaier just 1:49 into the second period. Metzmaier delivered the game-winning goal in the 35th minute.

Neither team found much footing offensively with just 11 shots attempted in the game. Kenyon attempted nine of them, which resulted in five saves by Wooster junior Zoë Semersky. Kenyon (6-2) 'keeper Payton Doan made one save.

Kenyon finished with a slight 3-2 edge on penalty corners.

Next, Wooster starts a two-game set with Wittenberg University (5-4) on Saturday, October 2 at 1 p.m. Game one of the set takes place on the road.
