Wooster Takes Care of Oberlin, 3-1

Natalie Katzenmeyer, Wooster field hockey WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster field hockey team dispatched Oberlin College 3-1 on Tuesday evening at John P. Papp Stadium.

Junior Maddie Peek emerged as Wooster's (2-4) offensive catalyst on the night. She crossed a pass from the wing to first-year Mary Johnson, who fired in team-leading goal number three of the year from about 10 yards out with :50 left in the opening quarter. Peek scored the game-winner on a rebound in the 21st minute.

First-year Natalie Katzenmeyer etched her name into the scoring column for the first time as a Fighting Scot in the 44th minute. The first-year tapped in a loose ball in the midst of a crowd in front of the cage.

Oberlin (2-3) scored first, with Vanessa Baker sliding in a goal in the sixth minute. Wooster's defense did not allow a shot the rest of the night.

Wooster outshot Oberlin 21-1 and had 10 corners to the Yeowomen's one.

Post made seven saves for Oberlin. Jackie Oh tallied two defensive saves to keep Wooster from running away with the contest.

Next, Bridgewater College (Virginia) (2-3) visits John P. Papp Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest on Friday, September 23.
