Scots Take Finale From Yeowomen, 1-0

Mary Johnson, Wooster Field Hockey OBERLIN, Ohio – The College of Wooster field hockey team went out on a high note, winning the season finale 1-0 over Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon at Knowlton Complex.

Wooster (7-12, 2-6 North Coast Athletic Conference) capped its year with four shutouts, two of which came in conference play. The Scots held the Yeowomen (4-12, 1-7 NCAC) without a shot, marking the second time this season an opponent did not get off a single shot in a contest against Wooster.

First-year Mary Johnson provided the offense, scoring in the 22nd minute. Johnson's team-leading seventh goal of the year was a redirected feed to the middle. The Scots inserted one of their nine penalty corners to senior Lucy Agurkis, who swung it to junior Olivia Nengel on the wing. Nengel fired the ball towards the cage, and it went in off Johnson's stick.

Senior Lucy Segal got the clean sheet in goal.

Wooster finished with 12 shots, 10 of which came between periods two and three. Wooster led Oberlin 9-2 on corners, with both of the Yeowomen's coming in the opening 15 minutes of play.

Post made six saves for Oberlin.
