Under-Par Nayak Earns NCAC Athlete of the Week Award

Krish Nayak, Wooster golf Recent 36-hole under-par scores are a rare occurrence for The College of Wooster men's golf program. Sophomore Krish Nayak has the most recent one, in fact, just the second since at least 1990, and he is this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Nayak was the medalist at last weekend's Gatorade Collegiate, where the Fighting Scots won the home event for the first time in its eight-year history. The sophomore fired a 140 for the weekend. He followed up an even-par 72 on Saturday with a 4-under-par 68 on Sunday. Nayak stepped up to hole 17 at 2-under-par, then proceeded to sink birdies on the final two holes to get to 4-under.

Of note, Nayak is the first Scot to finish under par for 36-hole tournament since alumnus Marcus Carano turned in a 1-under-par 143 at the 2015 Nye Intercollegiate/NCAC Preview at Wooster Country Club.

This is Nayak's second NCAC Athlete of the Week honor. He previously earned the award following the 2022 Bluffton University Spring Invitational.

Wooster plays at Baldwin Wallace University's Fall Invitational on Saturday, September 10.
