Wooster Finishes Third at Mount Union Fall Invitational

Connor Mitchell, Wooster Golf ALLIANCE, Ohio – The College of Wooster shot a 310 on Saturday and finished in third-place at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational. Sunday's second round at the par-72, 6,694-yard Tannenhauf Golf Club was canceled due to the weather.

Sophomore Noah Jackman and first-year James Jiang tied for 15th-place at 77. Jackman, who was Wooster's No. 2 at the tournament, delivered a steady closing stretch to Saturday's front-nine with five consecutive pars. Jiang, who birdied the second hole, played the back-nine at 2-over-par, and he started that split with four consecutive pars.

First-year Gabe Guthrie and sophomore Krish Nayak were next at 78, which placed them in an 11-way tie for 20th-place. Guthrie's round was headlined by a birdie on hole 14, while Nayak started his round with a birdie, and was 1-under-par through four holes. Nayak later logged a par on five straight holes on the back-nine.

Junior Connor Mitchell carded an 80 to round out Wooster's lineup. Junior Tyler Hilbert's 78 was the low score among Wooster's "B" team.

John Carroll University's 296 led the six-team field. The Blue Streaks' Zach Brinks was the medalist at 1-under-par.

Next, Wooster competes at the NCAA Div. III Region 5 Preview, which takes place October 3-4 at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
