Scots Compete in Two Events Over Weekend

Jacob Ullom, Wooster Golf The College of Wooster men's golf team's weekend consisted of two events, with the Fighting Scots' regular lineup playing at the Kravetz Invitational and the "B" team hosting the Nye Intercollegiate. Wooster's lineup placed fifth at the par-72, 6,832-yard Irondequoit Country Club, while the "B" team took third at the par-72, 6,545-yard Wooster Country Club.

Wooster turned in rounds of 309 and 314 at the Kravetz Invitational. Three Fighting Scots – first-year Mark Towns, junior Tyler Hilbert, and junior Jacob Ullom – all carded 77 on Friday, with first-year Gabe Guthrie's 78 rounding out the scorers. On Saturday, sophomore Noah Jackman's 75 was followed by Guthrie's 77 and Ullom and Towns' 81s.

Guthrie tied for 17th at the Kravetz Invitational at 155. The first-year rolled in five birdies and played 25 of the 36 holes at par or better, including 12 of the 18 on the back nine. Fueled by his team-leading 75 on Saturday, Jackman placed in the top 20 at 157. He carded six birdies and moved to 1-under-par in Saturday's round with his final birdie on the par-4, 434-yard 14th hole.

Towns and Ullom both tied for 24th-place at 158. Towns opened with a 1-over-par 37 over the first nine holes on Friday and played that stretch on Saturday at 3-over-par. Ullom made Saturday's turn at 1-over-par after rolling in birdies on the par-5, 497-yard seventh hole and the par-5, 512-yard ninth hole. All three of Ullom's Saturday birdies came on par 5 holes, and he played those eight holes at 4-under-par for the event.

Hilbert's 161 placed him in a tie for 29th. Hilbert sank three birdie putts over the 36 holes and made the turn on Friday at 2-over-par. He got back to 3-over-par on the back nine Friday with a birdie coming on No. 18.

Host University of Rochester won the six-team Kravetz Invitational with a two-day score of 593. McDaniel College's Charlie Dolan was the medalist with a 1-under-par 143.

First-year James Jiang led the Scots competing at the Nye Intercollegiate with a weather-shortened 27-hole score of 119. He placed 11th. Sophomore Krish Nayak (82-38-120) and junior David Dennis (79-42-121) were within the top-15, which helped Wooster secure a top-three showing.

Otterbein University won the Nye Intercollegiate at 455. The Cardinals' Carter Woodward and Muskingum University's Cameron Henry shared medalist honors at 112.
