Wooster’s Offense Quiet in Second Half of 10-5 Loss at OWU

The College of Wooster was tied 4-4 deep into the opening half with Ohio Wesleyan University, but yielded two late goals, then after the break the Fighting Scots' offense could not find the answers with just one second-half score in the 10-5 North Coast Athletic Conference setback Friday night at Delaware, Ohio.

Pat Henderson gave Wooster (5-6, 0-2 NCAC) an early 2-1 advantage with back-to-back goals four minutes into the action, and later, Eric Johnson and Matt Ranck also scored back-to-back, evening the scoreboard at four at the 13:10 mark of the second quarter.

Both defenses clamped down for the next nine minutes before Ohio Wesleyan (8-2, 2-1 NCAC) gained some momentum with goals just 26 seconds apart.

The Scots were still within striking distance well into the third quarter, as it remained 6-4 until the Battling Bishops struck for three goals over a 3:23 stretch. Tom Herold ended the run with an unassisted goal to close Wooster's deficit to 9-5, but Ohio Wesleyan would account for the lone tally of the fourth.

In addition to the goal scorers, defender Sean Hohan played a strong game for the Scots with two caused turnovers and seven groundballs, and Matt Magoon was credited with eight saves in goal.

Next, Wooster will play its home finale against Oberlin College (2-6, 0-2 NCAC) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
