Wells Scores Twice in Loss to 20th-Ranked Ohio Wesleyan

Ted Wells scored twice for the Scots on Saturday for season goals 13 and 14.

DELAWARE, Ohio -- No. 20 Ohio Wesleyan University improved upon its early week showdown against the Scots with a 19-2 victory on Saturday.

When the two teams met in Wooster on Tuesday, Wooster lost by just four goals, 14-10. 

Early on in Saturday's matchup, Wooster answered an early goal from the Battling Bishops to tie the game with 6:30 left in the first period. Ben Byars found Ted Wells for the score.

Unfortunately, Ohio Wesleyan regained the lead two minutes later and increased that lead to 7-1 late in the second period.

Wells scored Wooster's next goal with 2:21 left in the second period. Ohio Wesleyan closed the half with another score and led 8-2 at halftime.

The second half was all Ohio Wesleyan with seven goals in the third and capping the fourth off with another four goals.

Ohio Wesleyan (8-1) outshot the Scots 56-31 and won the ground ball battle 37-28.

Wooster (4-5) did win the majority of faceoffs for the second straight game at 14-of-24. Jimmy Fisher was responsible for that, going 14-for-23 and collecting a team-high 10 ground balls.

Ohio Wesleyan had little issue on clears, going 23-for-25. Wooster also did well, succeeding on 19-of-25 attempts.

Wooster keeper Adam Meyer collected 13 saves. Paul Chandler played 7:43 in net and collected one save as well. Casey Steffen led the team with two caused turnovers.

Wooster will look to get back in the win column Wednesday when they travel to Allegheny.
