Throughout the spring semester, we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Tucker Joseph, an economics major from Bow Mar, Colorado. Joseph is a member of the men's lacrosse team.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I loved my overnight visit with one of the athletes on the men's lacrosse team. I fell in love with the campus and team culture immediately.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means having the ability to represent my team and school playing the sport I love while also being able to pursue my academics.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I have really enjoyed being able to spend four years on the Wooster club ice hockey team. I love the team, and it has been awesome being able to do both sports during my time here.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: Being connected to the other athletes on all of the other teams.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am the club ice hockey president, a commentator for women's volleyball, and I work in the athletic training room.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Nate Huston, our head athletic trainer, made a very positive impact on me during my time here and is someone who I have really appreciated. Nate has always been a huge support for our team through many changes in team culture and our coaching staff.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: My teammates and coaches have always been incredibly helpful in being a resource for me.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My topic is on evaluating the marginal willingness to pay for abatement in air pollution based on residential hedonic housing models. I am assessing the casual impact of clean air on the price of real estate, allowing me to derive the willingness to pay for abatements in air pollution.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: We always travel as a team for spring break, and it is a great opportunity for us to get closer and build our culture. It is also awesome to be able to play other schools around the country who are out of conference.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year (freshman) self?
A: Keep your options open in terms of what you want to do and who you want to be. A lot is going to change.
