Another Preseason All-American Honor for Steffen

Senior Casey Steffen was recently recognized as a Preseason All-American by another organization as USA Lacrosse named him an honorable mention.

This pairs with his third team honor from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and his honorable mention from Inside Lacrosse.

The defenseman from Danville, Calif., is coming off a career-year in which he earned an All-American honorable mention selection, becoming the first Scot to be named an All-American since 2010. He also was the first defender in program history to be recognized with such an honor.

Steffen, who landed on the USILA DIII Team of the Week twice last season, was also the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and an All-NCAC first team selection. His 5.06 caused turnovers per game made him the statistical champion in all of Division III.

Steffen broke the school and NCAC record for most caused turnovers in a season with 86 and broke the school and NCAC record with 12 caused turnovers in a single game.

Steffen led the program to its winningest season at 13-4 and longest winning streak, which the team accomplished with 11 straight wins to open the season.

Steffen also totaled 12 points on three goals and nine assists last season. He recorded 82 groundballs to help the team to its ranking of third nationally in groundballs per game (45).

Wooster's 2024 season begins with three consecutive home games, with the first being Feb. 21 when they host Otterbein University.
