Casey Steffen, Wooster Lacrosse

NCAC Men's Lacrosse All-Decade Team

Casey Steffen, a current senior on The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team, was named to the North Coast Athletic Conference's 40th Anniversary All-Decade Team on Tuesday.

Steffen earned a spot on the team as the 2023 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior, Steffen became the first Fighting Scot to be named an All-American since 2010 and the first defender in program history to make the All-America squad. The first-team All-NCAC performer was the NCAA Div. III statistical champion with 5.06 caused turnovers per game, which is a NCAA Div. III single-season record. He broke the NCAC and school record for most caused turnovers in a season with 86 and broke the conference and program single-game records with 12 against Wittenberg University.

To date this year, Steffen has caused 63 turnovers and has 72 groundballs. He is second nationally with 3.71 caused turnovers per game and has helped the team to a top-10 national ranking in the stat. With Steffen leading the charge, Wooster's opponents have just a 66.4 percent success rate on clears, which ranks tops nationally. Wooster is seeking its second straight team statistical championship ranking in opponent clearing percentage.

A NCAC Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year honor, a NCAC Midfielder of the Year honor, or at least three first-team All-NCAC awards between 2014 and 2023 were the necessary criteria to qualify for the NCAC All-Decade Team.
