Titans Hold Off Resilient Scots

Elliot Miller The Wooster men's soccer team is still searching for its first win after a 2-1 loss to Westminster College on Saturday.

The teams played to a scoreless tie for more than 60 minutes until Westminster's Tyler Caterino broke the seal in the 68th minute after the Titans gained the advantage following a corner kick. Caterino one-timed a pass from Connor Schmidt and scored on the right side of the net.

However, the lead didn't last long as Wooster first-year Elliot Miller scored in the 71st minute on a free kick from the top of the box, scoring in the top-left zone.

Westminster scored the game winner on another one-timer, this time it was Schmidt scoring from an assist from Marc Esqueda. The Titans took control after a Wooster goal kick, and quickly turned an opportunity into a score.

Wooster had another free kick opportunity near its own box with under three minutes remaining. They threatened, but Westminster (1-2) survived the push.

Wooster (0-3-2) outshot the Titans 18-10 and held the corner advantage 4-2. Goalkeeper Jason Prather made three saves to take the loss.

Last year, the Scots defeated the Titans 5-2 at home.

Next, Wooster travels to Heidelberg University on Wednesday.
