Men's Soccer Cruises For First Win

The College of Wooster men's soccer team had a night to remember, capturing its first win of the season with a 5-0 victory over Heidelberg University.

Wooster scored more goals than they had previously all season long (4) while keepers Gabriel Thomas, Drew Beazley and Jason Prather combined for the shutout.

Senior Alex Pollitt started things in the 20th minute, and Wooster took a 2-0 lead at halftime on first-year Evan Amend's first collegiate goal.

In the second half, first-year Elliot Miller expanded the lead with his second goal of the year. Then, sophomores Mason Garza and Jil Sehr scored their first collegiate goals as well. Garza's came unassisted in the 70th minute, while Sehr scored on a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

Wooster outshot Heidelberg (0-4-1) 29-7. The Scots also took 10 corner kicks to Heidelberg's two.

The Scots (1-3-2) return home for two games this weekend, starting with Defiance College on Saturday.
