Scots Struggle on Road Against Little Giants

Colin Stoner The College of Wooster men's soccer team never found its footing in a 2-0 loss at Wabash College on Saturday.

The game had big implications for the North Coast Athletic Conference playoff picture. In a crowded field, Wabash (11-4-1, 4-2 NCAC) entered tied for the final fourth spot with nine points, while Wooster (5-6-4, 2-2-2 NCAC) was on the outside looking in with eight points in fifth.

Wabash controlled possession for a majority of the first half and took the game's first goal in the 15th minute as Jackson Grabill scored off the assist from Hugo Garcia.

Wabash extended its lead in the second half as Emilio Paez put his shot hit on the mark in the top corner of the goal in the 49th minute.

The Little Giants also had a penalty kick opportunity in the game in the 69th minute, but Wooster goalkeeper Jason Prather guessed right for the save. Prather finished the game with four saves.

Wabash keeper Soren Russell also guessed right in the 76th minute when Wooster was awarded its own penalty kick. Senior Jack Giloth took the opportunity as he went to the lower right corner, which was also Wooster's first and only shot on goal for the game.

Wooster was outshot 15-7. Wooster also had to fend off 10 Wabash corner kicks while only producing one themselves.

Wooster has two NCAC games left in the regular season, and both will be at home. Next, they welcome Oberlin College to Carl Dale Field on Wednesday.
