Playoff Hopes Dashed in Tie with Oberlin

Kyle Stringer The College of Wooster men's soccer team tied with Oberlin College 2-2 on Wednesday, effectively ending its chance of making the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Scots needed to win out in its final two games of the season, but with the tie, the four-team field is set with Kenyon College, Wabash College, Ohio Wesleyan University and Denison University all making the cut.

Wooster could not get going early in Wednesday's contest as they yielded a goal in the 15th minute on a dagger from Oberlin's Anthony Pacewicz.

However, the Scots came out of halftime renewed, tying the game in the 58th minute as Moody Saadi's rebounded shot found the foot of Elliot Miller for the score.

Disappointment came in the 71st minute as Oberlin retook the lead on a goal from Louis Gandelheid. Yet, Wooster responded just two minutes later as Kyle Stringer took it upon himself to score the equalizer from the left side of the box.

Wooster kept the pressure on late but could not find the final game winning goal.

Both teams took 17 shots even though Wooster was held to just three in the first half. Both Stringer and Miller brought their season goal tally to three.

Wooster keeper Jason Prather made six saves, while his counterpart Colvin Iorio made seven.

Wooster moves to 5-6-5 overall and 2-2-3 in the NCAC, while Oberlin goes to 5-7-3 and 1-4-3.

The Scots return home Saturday for one last game when they host Denison University.
