Six Scots Named to CSC Academic All-District® Team

Wooster's CSC Academic All-District Selections 2022 CSC Academic All-District® Soccer Release

Senior Langston Hood, senior Alex Pollitt, junior Jason Prather, junior Jason Stewart, junior Kyle Stringer, and sophomore Max Wiley were among the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honorees, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Hood's four goals ranked second on the team this fall, and he was a lead reserve on Wooster's 2021 team, which won nine contests, the most for the program since 2006. Hood scored eight career goals in 41 contests.

Hood is researching compatibilism as a potential solution to the free will and determinism problem for his Independent Study. The English and philosophy double major is the co-president of Wooster's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is the president of the campus chapter of the NAACP. Elsewhere, Hood is a teaching assistant for two professors, works in the athletic training room, and is a substitute teacher at Montessori School of Wooster.

Pollitt, a four-year contributor, made 40 career appearances over Wooster's three competing seasons. The business economics major finished with two career goals, with his senior year score coming in a 5-0 rout over Heidelberg University.

Off the pitch, Pollitt is examining long-run profit growth of English Premier League soccer clubs through comparisons of ownership turnover. Pollitt is seeking to better understand how various types of owners and financial strategies led to either success or failure within a highly competitive and lucrative market. As an intern with the Louisville Sports Commission, Pollitt provided research for the Paul Hornung Award, an award that recognizes and rewards versatile, high-level performers in major college football. With the Louisville Sports Commission, Pollitt helped organize a youth run, a field day for youth in marginalized communities, a multi-company sports challenge day, and worked with the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame committee.

Prather, a two-year starter, sports a 1.21 goals-against average in 2,224 minutes of action. The education and history double major made a career-high 60 saves this fall, with seven coming against Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament champion John Carroll University. Prather, and Wooster, shut out North Coast Athletic Conference power Ohio Wesleyan University on October 15, for the program's first tie against the Battling Bishops in 15 years.

Stewart earned a starting role this fall and was part of five clean sheets. The junior has 23 career appearances over the two counting seasons during his time as a Fighting Scot.

Stewart gained summer research experience at Grip-Flex, a division of AmeriCoat. There, he focused on research and development for the company's products. This past summer, the chemistry major was a sophomore researcher on campus focusing on photophysical analysis of porphyrin-natural product hybrids for use in photodynamic therapy of cancer.

Stringer, a two-year starter, has scored three goals in both seasons the Scots have competed in. He scored the game-winner against archrival Wittenberg University this fall and has 28 career starts.

This summer, the biochemistry and molecular biology major shadowed doctors at the OhioHealth Grant Medical Center and Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio. The future aspiring surgical physician spent 2021 at Lowcountry Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Carolina.

Wiley, Wooster's top offensive player, evidenced by a team-leading five goals and 13 points this fall, is a two-year starter. He scored five goals in his debut season with game-winners against Westminster College (Pennsylvania) and Muskingum University.

Wiley has research experience with SurePeople, where he focused on project-based work supporting psychometric and assessment services. He contributed to a published case study and a newly-developed learning styles assessment. Elsewhere, the statistical and data sciences major is a mathematics tutor and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

All six of Wooster's Academic All-District® honorees are on the Academic All-America® ballot, which is voted on by CSC members, and will be announced on Wednesday, December 7. Starting with the 2022-23 academic year, all eligible nominees submitted by member schools earn Academic All-District® status. Nominees were voted to the Academic All-District® Team in previous years and those winners advanced to the Academic All-America® ballot. Wooster's men's soccer team has three all-time Academic All-America® selections.
