Wiley Quiets Thunder on Equalizing Goal with Seconds to Spare

Despite playing a man down for much of the game, The College of Wooster men's soccer team found a way to leave Carl Dale Field with a 1-1 tie versus Trine University.

Junior Max Wiley was the hero, scoring with 7.6 seconds left on the clock, erasing a 1-0 deficit, which the Scots faced since the 22-minute mark.

Wiley received a deflected ball and took a rainbow shot from outside the top of the box that went over the Trine goalkeeper's head as the entire Scots roster celebrated toward their bench's corner.

Trine took a 1-0 lead off a corner kick in the 22nd minute. Trine got a good look on a ball in front of the net, which was saved by starting keeper Gabriel Thomas, but Trine's Gavin Hardy found the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net.

About seven minutes later, Wooster junior Miles Rochester received his second yellow of the game at the 29-minute mark, leaving Wooster a man down for the rest of the way.

Trine was patient, picking its spots, but Thomas was there the rest of the way, finishing with six saves.

Trine outshot Wooster 12-6, but Wooster was efficient with all but one shot on goal.

It was both team's first matchup of the season as they both leave with a 0-0-1 record. The Scots head to Case Western Reserve on Sunday.
