Scots Make Attempt to Dethrone Undefeated Blue Streaks

Elliot Miller UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The College of Wooster men's soccer team took a 4-1 loss to undefeated John Carroll University on Saturday.

While Wooster falls to 0-2-2 on the season, John Carroll improves to 4-0 on the year. They have now defeated three NCAC teams along with Oberlin College and No. 5 Kenyon College.

The Scots gave the Blue Streaks a scare early when sophomore Elliot Miller connected on a free kick from about 25 yards out for the Scots to lead 1-0 in the 27th minute.

Wooster held that lead until the 43rd minute when John Carroll scored the first of its unanswered goals.

It was a 1-1 game at halftime, but John Carroll quickly made it 3-1 with goals in the 49th and 50th minute, just 1:05 apart. Hayden Haffner made it 4-1 in the 65th minute.

John Carroll doubled the Scots on shots, 18-9, and won the corner kick advantage 8-3. To Wooster's credit, seven of its nine shots were on goal.

Gabriel Thomas made four saves in net for Wooster.

Wooster returns home Tuesday when they take on Heidelberg University.
