Stringer Goal Puts Scots Up But Bishops Fight Back

Gabriel Thomas The College of Wooster men's soccer team opened scoring up on Saturday in the team's home finale but could not maintain momentum in a 4-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan University.

Wooster scored in the 30th minute on a goal that featured a double assist from Zach Napora and Max Wiley. As the ball pinged across the field, it landed on Kyle Stringer who scored his first goal of the year.

Wooster did not enjoy the lead for long as the Bishops hit the equalizer in the 37th minute thanks to a score from Charlie Riddle.

It was anyone's game as the two teams played to halftime tied 1-1 and all the way up to the 62nd minute.

Unfortunately, Ohio Wesleyan would rattle off two quick goals about three minutes apart as both were scored by Gabe O'Reilly. Ohio Wesleyan would score once more in the 75th minute on a goal from Christopher Guerra.

The Bishops outshot Wooster 24-11. Wooster keeper Gabriel Thomas made eight saves, one shy of tying his career high.

Ohio Wesleyan moves to 11-3-1 with the win and 5-1 in the NCAC. Wooster is now 5-7-3 overall and 2-3-1 in conference games.

With two games remaining in the NCAC schedule, Wooster travels to Columbus on Tuesday to take on Denison University in a game to be played at the Historic Crew Stadium.
