Behind the play of senior Jeremy Dominik and freshman Matt Hoch,
The College of Wooster pulled out a key 5-4 victory over visiting
Allegheny College Sunday afternoon as the Fighting Scots improved
to 10-2 overall and remain perfect at 2-0 in North Coast Athletic
Conference East action.
With the Scots ahead by a 4-3 count, Hoch and Allegheny's
Zack Kerosky squared off at No. 3 singles, as Kerosky took the
first set 7-5. Hoch quickly bounced back to take the second set by
a 6-2 count, and too the match via a 6-3 final set win.
During singles' action, Dominik eased to a 6-1, 6-2 victory
at the No. 2 slot, while freshman Matt Mandell also notched a
victory in straight sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-3 at No. 6.
In the crucial doubles' matches, Dominik and Hoch teamed up
at No. 2 for an 8-3 win, while the tandem of sophomore Brad
Palanski and senior Chris Collen were victorious in the No. 3 slot
by an 8-4 tally.
Wooster will jump out of NCAC play and host regional foe John
Carroll University (6-7) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
