MAYFIELD – The College of Wooster men's tennis team captured an 8-1 win against John Carroll University on Saturday.
The Scots cruised with wins in every singles flight and wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles spots.
Alon Liberman and Austin Hanna took an 8-3 win in the No. 1 flight, while Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 3.
Liberman later won in straight sets in the No. 1 slot 6-3, 7-5. Hanna came back from a first set setback to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Alex Drewes needed three sets and won 6-2, 6-7 (6), 1-0 (8) in the No. 3 flight. Dewan needed three to win at well in the No. 4 spot 6-7 (5), 6-1, 1-0 (6).
Finally, Johnson won 6-0, 6-3 and Nebyou Minassie won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.
Wooster improves to 2-3 and give John Carroll (1-1) its first loss of the year.
Next, the Scots will host Otterbein University on Saturday and then Ohio Northern University on Sunday.
