Men's Tennis Shuts Out OWU

Alon Liberman The College of Wooster men's tennis team swept Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday 9-0 as matches were moved to Aspen Racquet Club due to the rain.

The regionally ranked Scots (13th) had little issue, winning in straights sets in all but one match.

The No. 3 doubles team of Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson kicked the match off with an 8-0 win to give Wooster its first point. The No. 2 team of Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie followed, 8-2, while Alon Liberman and Austin Hanna also got the job done at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.

Liberman and Dewan blanked their singles opponents 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 and No. 5 flights, respectively. Hanna had a seesaw of a match at No. 2 but prevailed after a third set super tiebreaker 6-0, 0-6, 1-0 (6).

Drewes won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, and Minassie was just as good at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-1.

Finally, Johnson won 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 6 flight.

Wooster moves to 11-6 overall.

Next, it's a regionally ranked matchup for the Scots as they square off against fourth-ranked Denison University to wrap up the regular season on Sunday.
