The College of Wooster men's tennis team opened its fall schedule Saturday at Walsh University, where the Division II school defeated the Scots 7-0.
In doubles play, Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson lost 6-4 to Philip Peter Carstensen and Ethan Milgan in the No. 1 doubles flight. Newcomers Gabriel Escobar and Namit Misra fell 6-3 in the No. 2 flight, and Alex Drewes and Walker Wood took a 6-2 loss in the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, Drewes played in the No. 1 flight but fell 6-1, 6-0 to Luis Hernandez. Dewan fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 slot, and Johnson battled in the No. 3 flight but fell 6-3, 7-5.
Escobar lost in the No. 4 flight after retiring in the second set 6-3, 1-0. Misra lost 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 flight, and first-year Atomu Maruyama fell 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 flight.
The men return to action the weekend of Sept. 24 when they part in the Denison Big Red Invitational.
