Johnson Scores Two Wins in Battle with Ohio Northern

Patrick Johnson Sophomore Patrick Johnson collected a pair of wins on Saturday as The College of Wooster men's tennis team lost to Ohio Northern University 7-2.

The Scots found themselves in a number of close matches but ultimately on the wrong side of too many of them.

The Scots fell behind 2-1 early after doubles play. The No. 1 team of Gabriel Escobar and Johnson gave Wooster an 8-6 win. However, the No. 2 team of Alex Drewes and Shivam Dewan fell 8-4 and the No. 3 team of Walker Wood and Namit Misra lost 8-3.

Johnson was then the lone winner on the singles side. He took the No. 4 flight 6-0, 6-2.

Drewes and Dewan each took their opponent to three sets in the second and third flights, respectively. Drewes lost 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (3), while Dewan fell 5-7, 7-5, 6-0.

Connor Streeter also had a fight in the No. 5 flight, falling in three sets 2-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4.

At No. 1, Escobar fell 6-2, 6-3, and at No. 6, Misra fell 6-4, 6-0.

Ohio Northern improves to 3-2, while Wooster drops to 2-4. The Scots start their spring break trip next in Hilton Head Island, S.C., beginning with a match against Shenandoah University.
