Men’s Tennis Start 1-1 on Spring Break Trip

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The College of Wooster men's tennis team split its first two games of its spring break trip in Hilton Head, S.C. with a 6-3 loss to Shenandoah University and an 8-1 victory over Dickinson College.

In the win, Wooster pulled ahead with two wins in doubles play. Gabriel Escobar and Patrick Johnson won 8-4 in the No. 1 flight, while Alex Drewes and Shivam Dewan won 8-6 in the No. 2 spot.

The four Scots all won in singles play as well. Escobar took a 7-5, 6-0 win in the No. 1 singles flight, and Johnson blanked his opponent in the No. 4 flight 6-0, 6-0.

Drewes won 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 flight, while Dewan took a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 3 flight. 

Connor Streeter won a tight match in the No. 5 flight, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (3), and Namit Misra won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 flight.

Against Shenandoah, Wooster claimed just one doubles victory as the team of Misra and Walker Wood won its No. 3 flight 8-2. The Scots then won the final two singles spots as Streeter won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and Misra won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

Wooster is now 3-5 on the year. They play again Sunday and Monday in Hilton Head with Sunday's contest against St. Ambrose University.
