Men's Tennis Struggles to Get Going Against DePauw

WOOSTER – The College of Wooster men's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision to visiting DePauw University on Sunday afternoon in North Coast Athletic Conference play. 

Wooster falls to 4-8 overall, including 0-2 in the NCAC, while DePauw, ranked No. 8 in the ITA Central Region rankings, improves to 6-5 overall, including 2-0 in the NCAC. 

The visiting Tigers took a 2-1 lead after doubles, winning at the No. 1 and 3 flights. Shivam Dewan and Alex Drewes battled for an 8-6 win at No. 2 for Wooster. 

Namit Misra recorded the lone singles win for the Fighting Scots with a 6-2, 7-6 (2) victory at No. 5. 

In the other singles matches, Gabriel Escobar lost 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 at No. 1, Drewes lost 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, ans Patrick Johnson lost 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3. Dewan lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 and Connor Streeter lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.

Other doubles results for Wooster included Escobar and Johnson falling 8-6 at No. 1 and Alex Anikeeff and Misra falling 8-2 at No. 3.  

Wooster returns to the court Saturday when it hosts Kenyon College at 1 p.m.
