Scots Take Second in a Row, defeat Tigers 7-2

Patrick Johnson SPRINGFIELD, OHIO – The College of Wooster men's tennis team won its second straight match on Sunday afternoon with a 7-2 victory at Wittenberg University in North Coast Athletic Conference play. 

Wooster improves to 6-11 overall, including 2-5 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dips to 3-14 and 0-7 in the league.

Alex Drewes was one of three players to go 2-0 on the day and in doing so, collected his 60th collegiate victory between singles and doubles. Connor Streeter and Gabriel Escobar also finished 2-0 for Wooster.  

The Fighting Scots took two of three doubles matches, opening the contest with an 8-3 win at No. 1 from Escobar and Patrick Johnson, while Drewes and Streeter posted an 8-5 win at No. 3. At No. 2, Namit Misra and Shivam Dewan lost an 8-4 decision.

Dewan opened singles play with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4, while Drewes battled back for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1. At No. 2, Escobar held off his opponent for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win, while Misra earned a 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(2) win at No. 5 and Streeter claimed a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0(7) win at No. 6. 

Wooster is at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., on Saturday in its season finale.
