ITA Scholar-Athlete Release

The College of Wooster's men's tennis team more than doubled its recipients from a year ago for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete award as five Fighting Scots were recognized by the association.

Patrick Johnson, Ian Loh, Namit Misra, Connor Streeter and Walker Wood were all named 2022-23 ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Johnson and Streeter were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® earlier this spring. The duo were also recipients of the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll, which is awarded to sophomores, juniors, and seniors with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Johnson, who earned the scholar athlete honor last year with alumnus Alon Liberman, had a strong sophomore campaign, earning All-NCAC third team honors in doubles competition.

Johnson collected eight wins in doubles play as well as singles action. He also clinched the team win against Ohio Wesleyan University on April 15 with a win at No. 3 singles.

The senior Streeter saw increased playing time, going 7-7 between the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots. He also went 2-3 in doubles action.

First-years make up the rest of the honorees between Loh, Misra and Wood.

Misra finished with a 7-12 record in singles play. He won six of eight matches in the middle of the season, including a three-match winning streak on the team's spring break trip.

Wood logged a 6-13 record in doubles play, going 3-1 when teaming with Alex Drewes. He also went 1-3 in singles play.

Loh saw limited playing time, going 0-3 in both singles and doubles action.

Student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5 for the current academic year to qualify of the ITA Scholar-Athlete award. Just over 1,000 NCAA Div. III student-athletes qualified for the honor this year.
