On the first leg of their final regular season North Coast Athletic Conference weekend, The College of Wooster men's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 8-1 on Saturday.
Wooster swept singles play and won two of the three doubles matches. Ohio Wesleyan (7-8. 1-5 NCAC) took their lone win at the No. 1 doubles flight 8-7 (5).
In the No. 2 doubles flight, Arnav Yadav and Shivam Dewan won 8-2. At the No. 3 flight, Alex Anikeeff and Anthony VanOyen held on for an 8-7 (4) win.
After falling in the No. 1 doubles tiebreaker, Jay Dixit got it back in the No. 1 singles flight, winning 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (4).
Yadav won another third set super tiebreaker in the No. 3 flight, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 1-0 (3). At No. 2, VanOyen won in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
Dewan won 6-1, 6-1 and Namit Misra won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, respectively. Finally, Max Stratford won 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 6 flight.
Wooster is now 8-9 overall and 2-4 in the NCAC. Wooster will wrap up its regular season schedule Sunday when they host Wittenberg University.
