Scots Blank Tigers, 9-0

Shivam Dewan WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's tennis team closed out the regular season on 

Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 win over visiting Wittenberg University in North Coast Athletic Conference action. 

It was the third straight win for the Fighting Scots, who improve to 9-9 overall, including a 3-4 mark in the NCAC. Wittenberg slips to 1-18 and 0-7 in the league. 

Shivam Dewan picked up career wins 70 and 71 between singles and doubles competition. The senior teamed with Arnav Yadav at No. 2 doubles for an 8-1 win and then blanked Andrew Garofoli for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. 

Wooster began the match with a sweep of doubles, which included an 8-7(4) win at No. 1 from Jay Dixit and Namit Misra. At No. 3, Anthony VanOyen and Alex Anikeeff won by a score of 8-1. 

In singles, Dixit battled for a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) win at No. 1, while at No. 2, VanOyen rallied for an 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4) win.

At No. 3, Yadav posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory, while Max Stratford fought for a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7) win at No. 5. Bennett Dickerson rounded out the scoring with a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 6. 

Next, Wooster will compete in the NCAC Tournament starting April 26, hosted by Denison University. Wooster will enter as the fifth seed, opening with a quarterfinals match against the fourth-seeded Wabash Little Giants.
