The College of Wooster swimming teams hit the water for the
final time this season on the road in a dual meet setting, cruising
to two victories on Saturday afternoon over Wheeling Jesuit
University. The Fighting Scot men defeated the Cardinals by a
114-68 margin, while the women were victorious by a score of 125-51
count. The victories improved the men to 5-4 overall, while the
women moved to 8-1.
Leading the Scot men was Eric Babbitt, who picked up two individual
victories. He touched the wall first in the 200 free in a time of
1:50.13, and also in the 100 back in 55.52.
Also picking up individual event victories for the Scots were
Johann Weber in the 1000 free (10:56.44), John Cushing in the 50
free (22.99), Ryan Radtke in the 200 individual medley (2:02.57),
Adel El-Adawy in the 100 butterfly (56.24), and Brendan Horgan in
the 100 free (50.63).
On the women’s side, Kristine Mann was a double-winner,
taking home first in the 1000 free racing to the wall with a time
of 11:20.69, and clocking in at 57.33 to win the 100 free.
Priscilla Haug won the 200 free, touching first with a time of
2:01.65, while Meggie Edwards stopped the clock first in the 50
free with a time of 25:77. Also picking up event victories was
Rebecca Haug in the 200 individual medley (2:22.13), Molly Bittner
in the 100 fly (1:03.24), and May Tobar in the 100 back
(1:03.27).
The Scots are back in action on January 31 when they host Grove
City College in their final home dual meet of the season against
the Wolverines with a 1 p.m. starting time.
