Despite some solid individual performances, The College of Wooster's men's and women's swimming and diving teams both came up short against Wittenberg University Saturday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference dual meet at Springfield, Ohio.
The men had a strong showing in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Alex LaJoie, Evan Hagedorn, Brian Maddock, and Imre Namath swam to a first-place finish in 1:42.23. Individually, Maddock and Nammoth each picked up victories as well, with Maddock's coming in the 200 back (2:01.77) and Namath's in the 50 free (22.88).
Also noteworthy, standout Luke Knezevic picked up a pair of wins in the diving well, scoring 284.00 on the one-meter and 255.36 on the three-meter, respectively.
Kate Hunt led the way on the women's side by winning the 200 free (2:12.67), as well as the 200 butterfly (2:12.67), where she narrowly edged out teammate Melissa Haug (2:17.46). She also teamed up with classmates Morgan Hughes, Mariah McGovern, and Clare Walsh to take the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:42.29.
Hughes also triumphed in the 100 free (55.67).
Overall, the men were defeated by a team score of 151-88, while the women fell 138-93.
The Scots will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Ohio Northern University for a dual meet at 1 p.m.
