Day One Wraps of Wooster Invitational

The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of its own Wooster Invitational on Thursday with the women in third place and the men in fourth.

In the finals, the women took second in the 200 free relay behind the team of Hallie FindlanGracie DuchonKeara Wiley and Maddie Becker. They swam to a time of 1:38.53, behind the first-place time of 1:37.29 from the University of Cumberlands.

Ollie Bream placed second in a tight 200 IM race with a time of 2:07.39. She was .02 seconds off from claiming first from Maria Basto from the Cumberlands.

Findlan was second in the 50 free with a time of 24.11 seconds, while first-year Lacey Mindock swam a 5:12.46 in the 500 free for second place.

The 400 team placed sixth with a time of 4:09.17 from Min Kim, Izzy BellefleurKay Wetmore and Wiley.

For the men, the 200 free relay team of Doak SchultzRyan GrossWill Laubacher and Callum Glover finished fourth with a time of 1:26.09. Schultz's leadoff leg of 21.24 seconds became the seventh best 50 free time in program history.

Isaac Shaker lowered his tenth-best program record time in the 500 free with a 4:45.51 for sixth place in the event.

Josh Pearson was fourth in the 200 IM in 1:52.25, and Schultz was later sixth in the 50 free in 21.43 seconds.

Finally, the men placed eighth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:38.74 behind Will LaymonTucke AndrewjeskiBoston Sullivan and Ryan Gross.

Cumberlands leads the women and men with 565.5 points and 616.5 points, respectively. The Wooster women have 408 points, and the men had 295.5.

Action continues Friday with prelims at 10 a.m., diving at 2 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
