Day 2 Sees Winners in Bream, Pearson in 400 IM

The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving team captured a pair of events as day two of the Wooster Invitational concluded Friday.

The Scots took both 400 IM events as Ollie Bream and Josh Pearson entered as the top seed and went on to win in the finals.

In addition, Doak Schultz's time of 50.54 seconds in the 100 fly became the third best men's time in program history. The time was good enough for ninth on Friday.

By the end of day two, both Wooster squads sat in third place. The women have 951.5 points as The University of Cumberlands continues to lead with 1,349.5 points. The men have 764.5 points, while Cumberlands leads with 1,433.5 points.

Bream's winning time in the 400 IM came in at 4:33.77. She was later a part of the 800 free relay team who took second and the 200-medley relay team who took third.

Lacey MindockEmma Humbert and Emma Connors joined on the 800 free relay squad, fending off third place by just .07 seconds and coming in with a time of 8:01.04.

Hallie FindlanMaddie Becker, Bream and Gracie Duchon placed third in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:48.91.

Elsewhere, in the 200 free, Connors placed third with a time of 1:58.46. 

In the 100 breast, Becker placed third with a time of 1:07.69 after having the top seed in the prelims. Izzy Bellefleur was seventh in the event at 1:11.29.

Duchon was sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 59.61 seconds, and Findlan placed eighth in the 100 back in 1:02.54.

Sophomore Cady Eakins placed fifth in the 1-meter diving portion of the event, scoring 169.65 points.

On the men's side, Pearson's 400 IM time came in at 4:04.38 in the finals. He later joined in on both relay teams for a top five finish.

Pearson, Isaac ShakerRyan Gross and Schultz swam a 7:03.14 in the 800 free relay for fourth.

Max LikinsNoah Golovan, Pearson and Schultz placed fifth in the 200-medley relay in 1:35.93.

Golovan also placed eighth in the 100 breast with a time of 59.52 seconds.

The third and final day of the Wooster Invitational begins with preliminaries at 10 a.m. Saturday, diving at 2 p.m. and the finals at 5 p.m.
