Scots Wrap Up Another Successful Dual Meet Season

Gracie Duchon OBERLIN – The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams will have its sights set on the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships after wrapping up its dual meet schedule on Saturday with a sweep over Hiram College and Oberlin College.

The men defeated Oberlin 132-121 and Hiram 205-39. The women did the same with a 144-98 win over Oberlin and a 199-33 win over Hiram.

For the men, it was the third straight season and the fifth time in the last six seasons of beating all NCAC teams they have gone up against in dual meets.

The women run their dual meet winning streak to 22 and have gone three straight years going undefeated in dual meets. It is also the eighth time in the last nine seasons beating all NCAC teams they've gone up against.

Right out of the gate, the women's 200 medley relay team picked up a win. They went 1:53.86 behind the team of Hallie FindlanMaddie BeckerOllie Bream and Gracie Duchon.

Findlan was busy with three individual wins in the 50 back (27.80), the 50 free (24.73) and the 100 free (53.83).

Bream won the 100 IM in 1:03.73, which became the 10th-best time in Wooster history. She also won the 100 fly with a season-best time of 1:00.62, while Duchon was second at 1:01.92.

Bream also was second in the 50 fly (27.22).

Becker won the 50 breast (31.61) with Vicky Maumbe (33.68) behind in second. Becker also won the 100 back in 1:02.12 with Min Kim following in second (1:04.02).

Izzy Bellefleur won the 100 breast in 1:13.97, and Emma Connors was second in the 200 free (2:03.27)

On the men's side, the 200 medley relay team came in second (1:35.97) with the team of Josh PearsonNoah GolovanDoak Schultz and Callum Glover.

Pearson later won the 100 fly in 52.26 and was second in the 100 back in 54.48. Both were personal bests for him.

Schultz won the 50 free in 21.90 and was second in the 100 breast (1:01.45). He won the 100 IM in 54.23, while Glover won the 100 free in 47.94.

Leo Edmonds-Doberenz scored a 154.45 in the 1-meter diving portion of the meet to win the event. He later won the 3-meter with a score of 161.45.

The men also had several second places. Ryan Gross was second in the 200 free (1:47.69); Will Laymon was second in the 50 back (25.24), and Boston Sullivan was second in the 50 breast (28.30).

The 200 free relay of Glover, Sullivan, Flynn Cowie and Gross placed second in 1:28.75.

The North Coast Athletic Conference Championships are next. Hosted by Denison University, they run from Feb. 8-11.
