Swimming & Diving Competes at Kenyon Fast Chance

GAMBIER - Several members of the College of Wooster swimming and diving team competed in the Kenyon Fast Chance Meet inside the James A. Steen Aquatic Center.

Junior Ollie Bream was the Scots' star of the afternoon, winning the 200 butterfly time trial with another NCAA B cut time of 2:03.46. That marks yet another career best for the junior, improving upon her own time that was already the second-fastest 200 fly time in program history.

The star on the men's side was sophomore Callum Glover who placed third in the 100 butterfly time trial with a career-best time of 50.97 seconds, which now ranks as the fifth-fastest time in school history.

Both Bream and Glover also swam in other events, with Bream taking fourth in the 200 IM in 2:08.87 while Glover turned in a career-best 54.97 seconds to place 11th in the 100 backstroke.

Adding to the Scots contingent at Kenyon was junior JP Timken, first-year Charlotte Helm, first-year Kate Peck, first-year Caleb Sun and sophomore Boston Sullivan

The first years capped off their first collegiate seasons in fine style, highlighted by a pair of career bests from Sun. Sun touched the wall in career-best times of 22.74 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 50.35 seconds in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 22nd place and ninth place, respectively. Sun also placed 19th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.77.

Helm had a PR of her own in the 100 backstroke time trial, placing seventh in a career-best 59.63 seconds. The first year also placed 16th in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.31. Fellow first year Peck took third in the 200 IM time trial in 2:18.99 and placed 18th in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.88.

Sullivan went a career-best 52.93 seconds to place seventh in the 100 butterfly time trial. The sophomore also placed 12th in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 56.16 seconds. Timken raced in the 50 freestyle time trial and placed 12th in 25.63 seconds.

Bream will now wait and see if her NCAA B cut time will qualify her to the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her 200 fly time is currently 16th-fastest in Division III at the time of this posting. Bream went to the NCAA Championships as a first year, placing 22nd at Nationals.
