Scots Claim All-Ohio in Three Events

Luke Henke The women's distance relay team, junior Luke Henke and sophomore Dylan Garretson earned All-Ohio honors Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University.

Top three placement in each event garnered the participants with All-Ohio honors.

Henke tied for third in the high jump with a final height of 6 feet, four inches. He made five successful jumps before bowing out at 6 feet, five inches.

Garretson also finished third in his event in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, 6.75 inches. He cleared two heights no problem before struggling on the next mark.

Finally, the women's distance medley relay team of Athena TharenosHaley Bloom, Igna Mendez and Kayla Bertholf finished in second with a time of 13:09.82. They finished behind Case Western Reserve who finished in 12:48.48.

Elsewhere, first-year Daysia Hargrave finished fifth in the long jump (17 feet, 2.25 inches). She also finished sixth in the 60 hurdles (9.44).

Claudia Partridge and Drew Patterson were on the outside looking in with a high jump of 5 feet, 3 inches, which earned them a tie for fourth.

The women's 4x200 relay team finished fourth in 1:49.10. That team consisted of Partridge, Patterson, Hargrave and Maya Vasta.

First-year Dylan Kretchmar ran a 5:21.69 for fourth in the mile. Vasta was eighth in the 200 dash in 27 seconds.

On the men's side, first-year Isaiah Kidd went 22 feet, 5 inches in the long jump for fourth, just an inch and a half away from third. Senior Alex DeLong finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:20.87.

The women ranked eighth of the 16 teams with 36 points, while the men finished ninth of 18 with 24.5 points. Mount Union won on both sides of team scoring.

Next for the Scots, they take part in the Kenyon Classic on Feb. 18.
