Sanford's Shot Put Win Results in NCAC Weekly Award

Evie Sanford, Wooster track & field Evie Sanford nearly took down a 27-year-old school record en route to winning the shot put at Saturday's Bob Shannon Invitational, and on Monday, The College of Wooster first-year earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors.

Sanford beat out 30 other competitors for the shot put title on Saturday, with the top mark of 40 feet, 0.5 inch coming on throw two. Sanford's distance was just shy of Dee Dee Reid's school record of 40 feet, 6.25 inches, which has stood since 1996. Sanford's performance marked the second consecutive meet exceeding 39 feet in the shot put.

Wooster is next in action at Saturday's All-Ohio Championships, which is being hosted by Wittenberg University.
