Sanford's Record Results in NCAC Athlete of the Week Honor

Evie Sanford, Wooster track & field The College of Wooster's Evie Sanford took down a Fighting Scots' track & field record at the Bob Kahn Invitational over the weekend, and on Monday, the North Coast Athletic Conference selected the first-year thrower as an Athlete of the Week.

Sanford's second discus attempt measured out to 132 feet, 2 inches, bettering alumna Savannah Moore's record from 2016 by just over a foot. Sanford placed second in the event and was fourth in the shot put at 36 feet, 0.25 inch, which was just off the first-year's outdoor season-best of 36 feet, 8.25 inches from the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Sanford currently ranks second within the NCAC in the discus.

This is Sanford's second NCAC Athlete of the Week award. The first-year was selected after beating out 30 other competitors for the shot put title at Denison University's Bob Shannon Invitational in early February.

Wooster is headed back to Oberlin College for a dual meet on Saturday, April 8.
