Partridge Falls Shy of All-NCAC Honors in Heptathlon

Claudia Partridge, College of Wooster track & field OBERLIN – The North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships officially kicked off this weekend with the completion of the heptathlon and the decathlon at Oberlin College.

In the nine-person field, senior Claudia Partridge finished just shy of All-NCAC honors with a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon. First-year Anaya Brady came in ninth.

Partridge earned five points for the women's team, while the men did not field a competitor in the decathlon.

On the first day, Partridge was at her best in the high jump. She won the event at a height of five feet, one inch. 

She had two other top three finishes. She placed second in the 200 dash with a time of 27.59 seconds and was third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.16 seconds. Finally, she finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 23 feet, 10.25 inches.

That put her in second after day one.

On day two, Partridge placed fourth in the long jump, reaching 15 feet, 1.25 inches, as her best attempt was her last.

Partridge then placed seventh in the javelin (56 feet, one inch) and in the 800 meters at 2:52.96.

Brady's best event was a tie for seventh in the high jump where she reached 4 feet, 3.5 inches. She also finished behind Partridge in the 800 for eighth place at 3:01.04.

Oberlin's Hayden Hill won the heptathlon with 3,757 points. Partridge racked up 3,395 points, while Brady scored 2,103 points.

For reference, last year's winner, DePauw's Erin Pasch, scored 5,041 points.

Next weekend, the Scots head to Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the NCAC Championships.
