Select Scots Compete in Twilight Event

BEREA – The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field team sent select individuals to compete at Baldwin Wallace University's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet on Friday.

Junior Athena Tharenos gave Wooster its lone win in the non-scoring meet, recording the best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:07.73. The time was a tad off from her last time out at 11:03.59, which broke the school record.

Senior Will McMichael continued to shave time off his school record in the 400, placing second in the event on Saturday with a time of 47.40 seconds. Nick Scherson finished in eighth at 48.98 seconds.

Daysia Hargrave ran a season-best 14.69 seconds in the 100 hurdles prelims and finished third in the finals at 14.71 seconds.

Echo Kidd placed fourth in the long jump at 22 feet, 7.75 inches and was seventh in the triple jump at 43 feet, 7.25 inches.

Claudia Partridge leaped a season best 5 feet, five inches for seventh in the high jump.

Sophomore Drew Robertson finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase running a season-best time off 9:16.35. That keeps him third in the program record book.

Other finishes included Conor Greene 15th in the hammer throw, Ainsley Wiesner 11th in hammer, Luke Henke 15th in the high jump and Morgan Kromer 14th in the pole vault The men's 4x400 relay team of Joe Shilts, Scherson, Cam Ray and McMichael ran a 3:23.83 for ninth.

In addition, first-year Evie Sanford threw 117 feet, 11 inches in the discus for eighth place on Thursday.

Next up, the Scots will travel to the University of Mount Union for the NCAA Final Qualifier on Wednesday.
