Scots Run Into High Scoring Spartans

 

Ella Biondi For the second straight game in the Nan Nichols Classic, Case Western Reserve scored over 90 points as its fast-paced offense silenced The College of Wooster women's basketball team on Sunday in a 94-46 outcome.

Case reached the 90-point mark for the third time this season, including yesterday's 93-86 overtime win over Alma College.

Wooster hung with the Spartans for the first five minutes of action before Case turned a 12-8 lead into a 29-13 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Case was led by Tournament MVP Kayla Characklis, who scored 12 points and collected 5 rebounds. Three others reached double figures in scoring, including Emily Plachta who also made the All-Tournament Team.

Representing Wooster on the All-Tournament Team was junior Harley Holloway and first-year Ella Biondi. Both led the Scots to a 59-50 win over Hilbert College on Sunday.

Holloway followed up a 22-point performance with a team-high 13-points on Sunday. Biondi scored seven points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists.

First-year Erica Beaty scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench. Classmates Ella Dean and Chloe Pordash each contributed seven points as well.

Case is now 5-1 on the season, while Wooster drops to 1-3. The Scots will host Capital University on Wednesday.
