Rwakatare Nets Career-High 13 Points in Final Home December Game

Namara Rwakatare Senior Namara Rwakatare had a career outing on Saturday as The College of Wooster women's basketball team dropped its final home game in December to Chatham University 80-46.

Rwakatare put up a career-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and also tied a career-high with eight rebounds.

Three other Scots pulled down 10 or more rebounds as well. First-year Ella Biondi tied for a game-high 11, while her nine points put her one point shy of a double-double.

Classmate Erica Beaty was a spark early as she and Rwakatare each scored four points in the opening stanza. Beaty finished with six points, 10 rebounds and four assists. 

Junior Alyssa Chritz came off the bench to tally five points and 10 rebounds, and Harley Holloway finished with eight points and four rebounds.

Chatham (6-3) set the tone early with a 10-0 run as they led 23-8 after one and 44-22 at halftime. Wooster had its best scoring run (8-0) midway through the second quarter, topped with a 3-pointer from Mia Walker.

The Scots played its best quarter in the third as they stuck with Chatham 19-18, trailing by one. Rwakatare went a perfect 3-for-3 in the quarter and hit both her free throws to tally eight points and five rebounds.

Wooster shot 24 percent (17-of-70) from the floor, 16 percent (3-of-19) from deep and 64 percent (9-of-14) from the foul line. Chatham shot 36 percent (30-of-84), made 10 of its 47 3-pointer attempts (21 percent) and shot 67 percent (10-of-15) from the foul line.

Chatham held the advantage in points in the paint (38-16), second chance points (16-12) and rebounds (60-53).

Wooster (1-8) has two games left in December as they travel to Defiance College on Saturday.
